I just got my copy of the Everything Health Guide to Menopause and find it very readable and user-friendly at a time in my life when things can get a little confusing (and a bit scary with all the changes). I’m not sure how the author packed all the information into this book, but it’s all here. I can skip around or read whole chapters. I especially liked the sections on sleep interruptions. There is a glossary, index and websites to use if I want more info. i highly recommend this book, which is going on the nightstand.

A good friend (also of a ‘certain’ age) sent me this book as a gift. It’s an easy read with information broken up into short subsections and deals with

more than just menopause. There’s a lot of traditional health and medical info , but also sections on alternatives to hormone replacement therapy. I especially like (and need) the tips on sharpening your memory. Based on what I”ve read so far, this book is really reassuring that I’m NOT sick and I’m NOT going crazy and there IS life after menopause.

Even since I got it, I’ve been picking up this book to do quick look ups for answers to questions I’ve been most curious about, and also browsing, stopping to read whatever catches my eye. Either way it is easy to use. It is so well organized, with a detailed table of contents and good index. I’m finding out all kinds of things I never knew, even though I’m thoroughly in the menopause experience already! So much useful info, for instance, the tips on stress management, health concerns, and unwanted facial hair (rogue hair indeed).

Mostly I appreciate how I can pick up the book, open it to anywhere at all and read something interesting. And I love the way the author injects some welcome humor into a serious and complex topic. I find the tone encouraging and comforting, as when talking about social concerns of perimenopause and being a member of the “sandwich generation.” I’m glad I have this book handy. I just wish I’d had it in my hands about ten years ago when changes were just beginning. But even now it is full of great reminders to pay attention to my health and be gentle with myself.

I wish I can read this book earlier. I strongly recommend this book to women aging from 45 to 50. It accurately describes the knowledge and provide useful and practical health guidance. Plus, it is a very enjoyable book to read.

I love this book’s approachable style of writing about health. As a reader, I have the feeling that the author is talking to me, as a friend who understands me. Her approach normalizes my own experience, and as a result is very reassuring. As a woman in menopause, normalizing and reassurance are just what I need! And, being from a generation whose mothers and aunts did not speak of menopause, it helps to have a friend like Kate Bracy.
